The snow is mostly gone, here on the prairies, but it will be some weeks before we see greenery and flowers blooming. I can’t wait! It has been a long winter and I sure could use a bit of color. Late spring or early summer images are great for it because all is fresh and green is bright and not dimmed by dust of late summer days.
We are lucky here in Alberta, because some nights are full of light show. We had a couple of gorgeous Aurora showing last fall and I have managed to capture some shots without leaving the city.
I know, I know it is winter and everybody posts winter photography, but I am not ready for it yet. I see it outside my window every day, so I want to see something warm, colorful and pretty. Hope you are in need of this as well.
It has been a while since I’ve posted anything about Elk Island National Park. So, I think, it is time for some lovely sunset from the beginning of summer, when all was green, flowers were blooming and days were warm and long.
Sunrise in the mountains is as great as a sunset, enjoyed the best in peace and quiet. Unfortunately, that was not the case that morning. It seems like a lot of tourists decided to go shooting in the same location as we did and they were running around yelling and generally making a nuisance of themselves…
If you follow the blog, you have probably noticed that I never go on a trip without taking a longer lens with me. I find, especially in the mountains, there are so many opportunities to use it, it would be a shame to not to take it on an adventure. The intimate landscapes, the macros.. So much to look forward to.
One cannot be in Banff NP and not visit Lake Louise. I’m sure I have said it many times before, but this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. No matter what time of year I am there, I always find myself taking a long time to explore the surrounding area and taking lots and lots of pictures.
Trains… I like trains. I have traveled using trains a lot, when I was growing up. They took me to visit family, for a trip to a forest, abroad.. Europe is full of trains… Every time I visit I try to take a train ride. Here in Alberta, I haven’t had a lot of opportunities to use trains, other than in a museum or a historical park. I do it whenever I can, but I’ve never had a chance to , actually, drive a train before.
I haven’t been to Stanley Park in Vancouver in ages, so we’ve decides to spend a lovely day taking trails and admiring wonderfully colorful forest.
I can’t believe it has been almost a year since we have enjoyed our last trip to Vancouver, BC. We have had only a few days to drive there, visit a bit and drive back, however, we have taken a ton of pictures along the way. The weather was, mostly, great, the views fantastic and the fall colors everywhere.
Over the years we have travelled a few times to Alberta badlands. It is always an interesting trip. The landscape is so different there, comparing to the standard prairies / Rockies and there is always an abundance of photographic subjects. From out-of-this-world rock formations to interesting flora, patterns on the ground, carved by water flowing down after the rains, people, animals... If you are lucky, the sky cooperates
It has been a while since we were able to go for a longer trip. That’s why when an opportunity to escape for a day to the mountains presented itself a few weeks ago, we took it gladly. We were suffering from a nasty long spell of freezing cold temperatures for several weeks here in Edmonton and having a chance to venture out, when it gotten a bit warmer was making me very happy.
