I find, especially in the mountains, there are so many opportunities to use it, it would be a shame to not to take it on an adventure. The intimate landscapes, the macros.. One cannot be in Banff NP and not visit Lake Louise. I’m sure I have said it many times before, but this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. No matter what time of year I am there, I always find myself taking a long time to explore the surrounding area and taking lots and lots of pictures.

Trains… I like trains. I have traveled using trains a lot, when I was growing up. They took me to visit family, for a trip to a forest, abroad.. Europe is full of trains… Every time I visit I try to take a train ride. Here in Alberta, I haven’t had a lot of opportunities to use trains, other than in a museum or a historical park. I do it whenever I can, but I’ve never had a chance to , actually, drive a train before.

The landscape is so different there, comparing to the standard prairies / Rockies and there is always an abundance of photographic subjects. It has been a while since we were able to go for a longer trip. That’s why when an opportunity to escape for a day to the mountains presented itself a few weeks ago, we took it gladly. We were suffering from a nasty long spell of freezing cold temperatures for several weeks here in Edmonton and having a chance to venture out, when it gotten a bit warmer was making me very happy.
