The snow is mostly gone, here on the prairies, but it will be some weeks before we see greenery and flowers blooming. I can’t wait! It has been a long winter and I sure could use a bit of color. Late spring or early summer images are great for it because all is fresh and green is bright and not dimmed by dust of late summer days.
We are lucky here in Alberta, because some nights are full of light show. We had a couple of gorgeous Aurora showing last fall and I have managed to capture some shots without leaving the city.
I know, I know it is winter and everybody posts winter photography, but I am not ready for it yet. I see it outside my window every day, so I want to see something warm, colorful and pretty. Hope you are in need of this as well.
It has been a while since I’ve posted anything about Elk Island National Park. So, I think, it is time for some lovely sunset from the beginning of summer, when all was green, flowers were blooming and days were warm and long.
Being early for a meeting or photo shoot as the case may be, gave a me an opportunity to look around and notice little things that I would not have noticed. I guess this is what photography is all about, to notice little things that in normal life we miss. To take a breath and see the world around us. Enjoy.
These series of shots where taking before the Vigilante session. As I hate to be late, I made sure I had lots of time before the shoot, to get ready and test the equipment. These are the results of that testing. Enjoy.
Finally had some time to go through some of the older pictures that were never touched. This one I took, while on a little weekend trip to downtown Edmonton.
I saw this building when I was downtown Edmonton, the other day. I thought that entrance arch would make a interesting picture. Although the light was not very good, I managed to stand in front of the building and snap this photo. I would have tried different angles, but I was chased away by the building security guard. I was told that this was private property and was not allowed to take pictures of the building. I thought that was a little silly, but I put a nice smile on my face, apologized and when on my way. Luckily I wasn't told to delete any photos. I think I will have to do some reading and find out what exactly my rights are, so I don't get into those situations. After this unfortunate incident I moved practically next door to a church.
I wanted to try out some wide angle shots. I think they worked, but like I said, the light wasn't very good, and did not bring out the beautiful red of the brick of the church. I tried it with the building I was chased from, but I think it might look better in black and white. Here is another shot of the church.
