Cabo de Gata - As I Saw It.. Part 2

After spending a short time at our first stop at Cabo de Gata (some images from there you can find both in my post Cabo de Gata - As I Saw It.. and Mac's post  Cabo De Gata and more Fuji X-Pro Landscapes) and taking some more shots of plant life as well as views of surrounding cliffs and rocks we've decided to try and find a way to get to some of the interesting rock formations we have noticed from the hight of the cliff down by the sea.

So here we were, travelling the narrow roads in search of views and experiences.  Looking for more places to visit and things to see. At some point we have spotted a trail leading down to a little beach and we've followed it to the end.  The land was very ragged there. Sharp volcanic rock eroded into fantastic shapes and the colours of it varied greatly as if Mother Earth decided to enhance the design of the vista some more.. As if it was not pretty enough ;) And all this surrounded by the bluest waters ever!!

Well, of course I was still trying to catch the best wave so took a few more shots of that  ;)

as well as tried to capture some of the strange rocks that erode into "bricks" giveing people a chance to leave some mark behind, saying that they were there and appreciated the beauty of this place..

And than it was time to say good-bye to Capo de Gata and take the road back to Almerimar to spend the last moments enjoying this lovely, lovely place before we started to head back to Madrid...

Of reflections, sunrises and water...

Blushing This absolutely wonderful morning, turned into dazzling real fast.  As I was enjoying the quiet, I felt the early warmth of the first sun rays on my back.  I looked up and saw the high clouds blushing at their reflection in the still waters below.

Sun kissed morning

The fog was swirling on the distant shore, and the clouds started to move quicker, although on the peer there was almost no wind and the water was quite still.  The birds increased their calls as to welcome the warmth after a cold night, and the still masts reflected their salute.

Never ending skies

The heavens touched the waters, bathing in still reflections of unity and never ending peace, until...

Explosion

The east erupted in brilliance, and breathtaking beauty.  What happened next will be concluded in the upcoming post.... so stay tuned, and enjoy!

Of stars, tripods and sunrises...

So on my recent ad-hoc trip to Wabamum lake I started of with some light painting.  In actuality it was more camera painting, because, being the silly person as I am, I have totally forgot my tripod.  Instead of sitting in my car, having a couple of hours before the sunrise, and kicking myself, I decided to improvise a little.  Using the hood from one of the lenses, and a little soft bean bag I managed to perch my camera on the roof of the car.  I set the ISO, and manual focus to infinity (and beyond), and tried as hard as I could to compose the frame, before placing the camera on the makeshift stand.  Luckily I always carry the remote shutter release cable, so I was able not to disturb the camera on longer exposures.  Using different shutter times and a few pictures later, I managed to get one above, of my favourite constellation of Orion. Venus

Next I moved my setup to a pick-nick table nearby, and point the lens due east.  Venus always rises before the sun, or sets right after, and there she was in full glory (the brightest point in the sky on the left).  From the colours of the sky I figured that the sunrise is near, so I cleaned up the makeshift camera stand, and headed out on the jetty.  The clouds were rolling in slowly, and there was almost no wind, so the lake was promising wonderful reflections.

Lake Wabamum

It was a chilly morning, and the morning fog was forming on the shores.  It was absolute silence, punctuated only by sporadic duck and geese calling to each other.

Absolutely wonderful morning, which I will continue with tomorrow...
