Macro in Red

It’s not very pretty outside today, here in Edmonton, so a colorful post with pretty flowers should cheer us all up a bit..

Red… Such an amazing color! Not often found in nature, but thanks to gardeners, working diligently over centuries, it is commonly found today. I love photographing red. It is one of my favorites, however it must be handled carefully in post processing. One can easily over saturate it and it would be a sin! ;D

I have been very lucky in being able to find a few red poppies that seeded themselves from last year in my patio garden. They are absolutely gorgeous when in bloom, so I have taken a ton of their pictures. They don’t last very long so one must take advantage of every opportunity.

It seems, with Remembrance Day tomorrow, poppies are very timely. We should acknowledge and remember our veterans. They did fight for our countries and suffer for many years after. One should never take their sacrifices for granted, nor should we allow ourselves to forget what wars are like for all who are unfortunate to be forced to take part in them…
