The snow is mostly gone, here on the prairies, but it will be some weeks before we see greenery and flowers blooming. I can’t wait! It has been a long winter and I sure could use a bit of color. Late spring or early summer images are great for it because all is fresh and green is bright and not dimmed by dust of late summer days.
We are lucky here in Alberta, because some nights are full of light show. We had a couple of gorgeous Aurora showing last fall and I have managed to capture some shots without leaving the city.
I know, I know it is winter and everybody posts winter photography, but I am not ready for it yet. I see it outside my window every day, so I want to see something warm, colorful and pretty. Hope you are in need of this as well.
It has been a while since I’ve posted anything about Elk Island National Park. So, I think, it is time for some lovely sunset from the beginning of summer, when all was green, flowers were blooming and days were warm and long.
We woke up this morning before the sun was up and decided to go out for a short photo trip. We were too late to drive far away from the city so we've decided to go to a nearby field and see what will happen... The landscape was not very appealing and there was no clouds to make the sky look interesting so I decided to concentrate on something else. Here is a few shots fresh from the press. Enjoy! :D

Elk Island National Park is a great place to take your family to for a few hours of close contact with nature or a loving couple for a little romantic photo shoot. Not only it's peaceful and quiet there but you can experience an amazing golden hour, of which, I was taking a shameless advantage every time I was able to. Here is a little collection of shots I have taken this summer during that wonderful time of day when the sun hangs low above the Astotin Lake.
It's gorgeous out there and when the sun gets low in the sky the world turns magical. I hope these images will bring you as much pleasure as they bring me and I am sure I will gladly be coming back to them when the cold winter months arrive...

The world often looks somewhat eerie, when blanketed with fog. Fortunately for me yesterday, the sun was up and the sky was blue above the fog thus I was able to admire the golden haze surrounding it without feeling uncomfortable. The moisture in the air and the cold temperatures resulted in frost covering grass and trees, adding to the appeal of the scenery. Surrounded by Mother Nature's splendour I seem to have forgotten about the cold for quite some time and managed to take a lot of pictures, which I'd like to share with you. Way too many for just one post, thus today's part 2 and there will be more... Hope you like them. Kasia
With relatively low temperatures this morning (-12oC) came fog. It rises sometimes from the river when the conditions are favorable. The sun was shining on a cloudless sky and I wanted to see the fog up close and decided to stop by my favourite spot by the river during my usual coffee run. I was smart enough to take my camera with me! And it was quite a remarkable experience, too! Such a thick fog hid world from my view leaving only things that were close, surrounding them in golden hue. One could barely see the river from the hight of the ravine.. The fog, after a while, started to rise up from the river valley and crawl onto the streets above. Since it was so cold it left ice crystals on the trees and grasses, that shone in the morning sun. Such a beautiful world we live in!!! Kasia
