When Fall Met Summer - Landscape Photography And More..

I think it's time for some color, don't you? It's been so long since we've seen more than whites, blues, blacks and grays, so why not go back to late summer and beginning of fall, when all the world was covered in beautiful colors?  It's seems to me that Mother Nature gives us this opportunity, every year, to soak it all up in preparation for a monochromatic season that lasts too long.. Today, I would like to share photos from two trips of ours that took place just as the seasons were changing.. Last day of summer, first day of fall. Two sunsets in rural Alberta. A little bit of landscape photography, a bit of rural architecture and nature and, of course, a macro shot (one cannot admire the world without looking close at things, don't you think?) and all of it full of beautiful colors, complements of Mother Nature.  I am so very glad to have seen it all and have my memories recorded so that I can look at all this splendor when I'm feeling deprived of color. Hope it is as enjoyable to you as it is to me :D Kasia

Ghost farm at sunrise - Part 2

The beautiful sunrise at the Ghost farm, allowed for a lot of images.  Why did I call it like this?  The farm house had a strange feel to it. I don't know if I would go there by myself at night, even though I would imagine it would be a great location to photograph night skies. I might have to ask some friends very nicely to go out with me.... yes I'm a bit of a scary cat :) Mac

Ghost farm at sunrise

During one of my scouting trips into the Alberta back country, I found this old abandoned farm. At that moment I've decided it would be great to visit this place at sunrise.  It's a bit of a drive from my home to this place, so the whole family woke up early, packed up our prepared photo gear, met our friends Jenn and Dustin, and went out exploring the Alberta back country.  We made it to the farm with a bit time to spare before the sunrise.  A beautiful morning, a little chilly, but then again this was still January.  I only took 2 lenses with me.  My trusty wide angle, and my tilt shift.  Here are the results.  Enjoy! Inspirations

Enjoy! Alberta landscape, somewhere west of Edmonton.  This was taken during one of my little road trips to nowhere.  Just aimlesly driving the less traveled Alberta country roads, in search of little gems like this one.

Or this one.  The most elusive Sid the Moose.  This guy was shot almost at night.  Had to crank my iso setting to 1600, to get this, thus the noise.  Sid the Moose, lives in Elk Island National Park, and he is very hard to spot.  Comes out in the very early mornings or late evenings.  I've been trying to get a good picture of him for a long time, and so far this is as best as it gets.  Now why Sid the Moose?  Well you should ask this great photog.... she may tell you, or she might not.  :)

Edmonton in the Morning - Part 2

Being early for a meeting or photo shoot as the case may be, gave a me an opportunity to look around and notice little things that I would not have noticed.  I guess this is what photography is all about, to notice little things that in normal life we miss.  To take a breath and see the world around us. Enjoy. Geometry

A new building and a new name.  Art Gallery of Alberta used to be called Edmonton Art Gallery.  The new building was designed by Randall Stout Architects and it finally opened in January of 2010.  It is a very strange building, and definitely a sight to behold.  There are divided opinion on the building, personally I like it.  It definitely is very photogenic.  Here are some examples. Enjoy. AGA

Pictures from Edmonton

These couple of pictures where taken on an outing around Edmonton. Since it was cloudy and scattered rain fell from time to time, I decided to turn off most of the colors in them. Here is a view of Edmonton and the North Saskatchewan river. The taller buildings in the distance are part of the University of Alberta.
