A Year With Fuji - My Favorites Of 2016

A Year With Fuji - My Favorites Of 2016

I set myself a task of choosing my favorite photos of the past year. I've never done it before so, optimistically, I was hoping to pick only a few, but the deeper I went into my files the more and more I added to the collection. I, honestly, don't know how to visit a location and take one, maybe two pictures and leave.  There are way too many compositions to chose from and each and every one has something unique to offer.

Last Moments Of Fall

Last Moments Of Fall

It must have been a murmur of falling snow that woke me up this morning way before 6AM. It wasn't a huge surprise, considering it is November and we have been snowed on earlier than that in previous years.. It is almost gone by now but, I know, we have only a couple of weeks left before it will be a full blown winter again and I am resigned to it, really... I am!

The World in Yellow - Macro Photography

It's been a long time since I have dedicated a post to just macros..  It's gotten cold yet again and, it looks like, winter is not ready to move on at present. Not that there was a chance of that but .. eternal hope and the like ;D Oh well, we'll have to wait for spring some more, but don't despair.  At least in pictures we can find some wonderful color, borrowed from other seasons. I'm in mood for yellow in nature today and I do hope you'll find it as enjoyable as I do.  I love macro photography.  Love the fact that one can concentrate on a detail and that one can have wonderful colors in the background without sacrificing the main subject. Grant it, it it's not so easy to make macro interesting, but I hope, I have ben close enough to it that you'll take a moment to look at these ;D Have a wonderful day everybody! Kasia

Beautiful British Columbia - Part 7 - Travel Photography

Travel photography, quite often deals with architecture.  One just cannot ignore interesting buildings and not take a picture or two.. Such was the case with Victoria's Craigdarroch Castle.  A beautiful place built in late 19th century, fortunately, not demolished with most of other older buildings in 1960s. Visiting it gives one a unique picture of life of that period. Such a pity there aren't very many such places available in western Canada.. If you are ever in Victoria, BC, make sure you drop by and take a tour. Learn how people used to live in the old times and take a moment to admire the craftsmanship of old.  Here are a few shots from our visit. I hope, this post will encourage you to visit this little architectural pleasure.. Kasia

Being... - Art Photography

As you can see from the title, I had a tough time classifying these images.  They could be part of a boudoir set, or part of an lifestyle series studying the human form.  Thus I decided on art, as it is very general :).  I guess the only thing that suffers here is my SEO, I think I can live with that.  I just really like these images, and even though they  don't fall into any theme (I personally called them Yoga), I still wanted to show them to you.  There is something about them that is calming, peaceful.... I let you judge for your self. Enjoy!

Portraits done a little differently - Portrait Photography

In the last post I was talking about lifestyle photography. Today I wanted to talk about portrait photography.  I know that some look at portraits in a very traditional way.  I, on the other hand, have a bit of a different view.  I guess you can call them more candid, or lifestyle... I find that a traditional portraits can be really beautiful, I like to add a little extra emotion or story.  Some may not call these portraits at all.  I like to engage the subject in a conversation, and during our dialogue take the photographs.  We usually joke around, which allows for the genuine smiles to appear.  I also like to include elements from the environment, which then really becomes an environmental portrait.  All these names, in reality do make a difference.  Here are some examples of what I mean.  Enjoy!

Ice and Light - Lake Louise in Winter

I've never been to Lake Louise in winter before and was looking forward to seeing this beautiful place all covered in snow.  When we arrived there the sky was already clouding up, but there was still enough light and colour to make things look interesting and it gave me the opportunity to take a few pictures of some of the great ice sculptures scattered all over the place, before they were damaged by rain and snow that came the next day.  Mac has shared his images from this trip in his posts: A mix of color in winter - Alberta Landscape Photography, Winter in the Rockies – Alberta Landscape Photography and  People in the Mountains – Candid Photography and now it is my turn to show mine, hoping you are not too bored yet ;D Kasia

Beauty of a Snowflake - Part 2

As I have mentioned in the first blog regarding snowflakes (Beauty of a Snowflake - Part 1) they have always fascinated me.  I'm pretty sure, most of us don't mind at all looking at them when we have a chance  ;)  so today I would like to share some more of my pictures of these lovely things.  Considering how long our winters last, I'm pretty sure, I will be out there yet again, trying to get some shots, when the conditions are right.  Freezing outside is not my idea of fun, but I am willing to sacrifice myself for the right cause ;). I hope you guys enjoy! Happy Monday to us all!!! Kasia
