Banff in October - Part 1

Since we are all stuck at home and shouldn’t travel anywhere, I’ve decided to share with all of you my memories of a trip to Banff National Park last fall. I know pictures are not a substitute of a great trip, but if we can’t go to the mountains, we might as well let the mountains come to us ;D

We were very lucky last fall to spend a couple of days in Banff National Park. October is a good time to visit. During weekdays, there are not as many people, usually, as in summer months and one can explore the mountains and the town of Banff without tripping over tourists every step of the way. When we visit Rockies, I usually concentrate on the mountains and nature. This time I decided to take a few shots in town, including insides of my favorite stores. The first time I have ever visited Banff, almost three decades ago (boy, time flies, when you’re having fun!!) I found all-year-around Christmas store. It was a middle of summer and entering the store and finding myself in the middle of winter, Christmas trees and all sort of Christmas decorations, was a bit of a shock. When and where I grew up, this type of stuff was only available in December. Having to discover it in the middle of summer was quite amazing. I have visited this store many times over the years, but I will never forget that first time and the instant joy I have experienced. But, the Christmas store is not the only one worth visiting. There are many, including the ones that carry rocks and minerals and little (and not so little) pieces of art created out of these rocks. There are galleries featuring local artists and many other things to see and explore. If you’re ever in the neighborhood you should visit. It is really lovely. Here is a few shots I have taken during this last visit in the town. Enjoy!
