Today on the blog we have a very rare sight.... Hippies in Alberta. They are usually hard to spot, and observe in the wild. They sometimes migrate from bordering province of British Columbia, but not very often.
Let's Go Skiing - Edmonton Lifestyle Photography
Alberta skiers are a hardy bunch. Even lack of snow and generally hot temperatures of a brief summer season, does not deter them from putting on some skis and going for a run. I happened on a couple of them training. It was quite an sight. Lucky I my cameras with me to document the event. Some of you might find it silly, but I had this idea for a very long time. I think the main problem with realizing it, was finding someone crazy enough to actually do it. I finally found that person and the little project could go ahead. It was a lot of fun shooting it. I can finally cross it out of my projects..... or can I? :) Looking at the images after, I think I could go one step further, expand on the idea. Hmmm.... rusted gears in my head are starting to spin, I just hope I don't break anything :) For now I'll let you enjoy the current project....
Romantic B&W Couples
There are times where B&W photography is almost a must. Times where the world around us is devoid of color. Like this set. I find that taking images of couples is very rewarding. My approach is very hands off. I find that having a couple be themselves, leads to the best images. I might throw in a word or two, but mostly I just let them be. Enjoy!
Cheryl and Dan - Wedding with Fuji X-Pro1.... and Canon
So the big day has arrived for Cheryl and Dan. I was shooting along with Randy Pond Photography. It is so much easier to cover a wedding, knowing that you can completely rely on your friend and partner. This wedding was wonderful. It was held at the Devonian Gardens, west of Edmonton. It's a very popular place for weddings. I used the Fuji X-Pro1 as the main camera and my Canon 5D as a backup.... yes a bit silly maybe, but it worked out great. Fuji can definitely deliver the quality. Here are some images from that beautiful day. Enjoy! Mac
Cheryl and Dan with Fuji X-Pro1
Another engagement photo session shot entirely with Fuji X-Pro1. This time I even attempted using old manual Pentax lenses. The view finder in the camera is really great for manual focusing, even though it does not have focus peaking that Sony NEX cameras do, it's still quite easy to see if the image is sharp. Now with the new firmware update, it should be even better. This is another session shot with Randy Pond Photography, as we prepared for this lovely couple's wedding. Enjoy!
Lori and Rob Engagment with Fuji X-Pro1
For wedding photography, I have partnered with a friend of mine, Randy Pond, from Randy Pond Photography. We have been shooting weddings for about 2 years now. For this lovely couple engagement session, I thought it would be great to try out off camera flash with my Fuji X-Pro1. I wasn't disappointed. Using Radio Poppers JrX system as the main source for triggering my Canon flash, I had full control of the flash power remotely. The only bad design on the Radio Poppers JrX system is the fact that camera unit has the antenna protruding from the bottom of the unit, making it impossible to attach to the hot shoe of the X-Pro1. Luckily the Fuji camera has a PC sync port on the side, and I could connect the transmitter part to it. It does not look very nice, as the transmitter hangs down from the camera by a wire, but it works. You just have to pay special attention no to loose it. Otherwise everything worked flawlessly. I could easily change the power of the Canon flash right from the camera (actually the trasmitter). But, let's forget the technical mumbo jumbo, and concentrate on Lori and Rob. They are a great couple and the engagement session went wonderfully. I really can't wait for their wedding day! Enjoy! Mac
Sunset Love
During the last family photography session, we thought it would be good time to take advantage of the beautiful sunset, and have a little session with just mom and dad. To capture them, and their love. It was a great mini session at the beach, and the sunset just added that extra something to the experience. Enjoy!
E & R in Winter
My great friend Randy Pond and me had a great opportunity to photograph Erin and Ryan for their engagement. It was a cold day, and we thought that we could shoot inside, but unfortunately we were told by the security of the building that it was not allowed. So braving the cold, and deep snow all around we started. Erin and Ryan are a great couple, and judging from these photos, photographing their wedding will a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Kristina and Landon Part 2

Kristina and Landon part 2
Kristina and Landon part 1
During the summer months I had an honour to be part of Kristina and Landon's engagement photo shoot. I have been invited to their wedding next year, which is going to be my second photo wedding. Yes I'm a little scared, and hope that I can pull it off with out a hitch. These shots are a few months old, but what better to brighten up a snowy cold day, than some green, sunshine, and beautiful people. Enjoy!
Jenn & Dustin
This photo shoot lasted a few months now, and will culminate this saturday, August 30, when I will be photographing their wedding. Yup my first wedding. I decided it would be a good idea to start early, since I never really did anything like that. I mean a wedding is nothing to sneeze at, specially for me. A total beginner. I decided it would be good for me to try a few shots of Jenn and Dustin at different locations. Just to get used the whole idea. Well what can I say, they liked the photos.... or at least they say they like them :)Here are what I think are the best of the best.
