Around Edmonton

I don't know about you, but I love going for walks around my town. Even if the weather isn't very warm I'll bundle up, take my family and walk to see what's new around.  Whether it is in the park or the Whyte Avenue, downtown or just closest neighbourhood there is always something new to find. Quite often I have my camera with me, 'cause you never know when the perfect opportunity arrises to take the picture. And yes, there are many a "Kodak moments" while we walk :). I thought I'd share with you a few of the pictures from around Edmonton. I hope you'll be inspired to take your family out and check out what's new in your neighbourhood as well. Who knows, maybe you'll even remember your camera and take a few pictures as well? Kasia

Randomly Back in Time

Since the temperatures in Edmonton dropped to well below -20C, it was a perfect time to do a little house cleaning in Adobe Lightroom.  I still have to figure out the best workflow for myself, as it is a challenge to find things in my over blown Lightroom catalog.  So far I have decided to split the main catalog into yearly chunks.  I will have to see how that works out, but  I can already forsee that if I'm not careful I might end up with a bigger mess.  Nevertheless, going through the first dslr year of 2007 I found some shots which I thought needed a revisit.  So here they are.  Completely random and not in any particular order.  Enjoy! Resting

Can some one please tell me what bird is this. It was raining one day, and I spotted it sitting on my fence. I grabbed my zoom lens and slowly walked outside. He actually let me get pretty close, but I only managed one photo, before he took off. Looks to me that he is some kind of predatory species, but I have no idea what kind. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Great way to attract Robin's to your yard, is to cut the grass. The seem to find all kinds of edible things on the ground. Like this little guy, that came visiting:

I was laying quietly on the deck, and tried not to make any sudden movements. They spook easily. He gave me a couple of good poses, and this is the best one:
