Can't Wait!

Can't Wait!

The snow is mostly gone, here on the prairies, but it will be some weeks before we see greenery and flowers blooming. I can’t wait! It has been a long winter and I sure could use a bit of color. Late spring or early summer images are great for it because all is fresh and green is bright and not dimmed by dust of late summer days.

A Pretty Sunset

A Pretty Sunset

Landscape photography is always dependent on weather conditions. That’s why it requires a lot of work and expense to produce truly captivating shot (unless someone is using a computer generated sky cloning, that is). Personally I prefer waiting for the perfect sky and visit places over and over again to capture them.

From Sunrise to the Dark of Night

From Sunrise to the Dark of Night

April in Banff National Park can mean lots of snow, heavy skies, sunshine and no snow what-so-ever.. One never knows what one will find when travelling Rockies in spring. This particular time, the weather was sunny and relatively warm. Not much snow anywhere, either, except on higher elevations. Perfect condition for explorations as well as braving sunrises and sunsets and night photo sessions.

Banff in October - Part 9

Banff in October - Part 9

Sunrise in the mountains is as great as a sunset, enjoyed the best in peace and quiet. Unfortunately, that was not the case that morning. It seems like a lot of tourists decided to go shooting in the same location as we did and they were running around yelling and generally making a nuisance of themselves…

Banff in October - Part 5

If you follow the blog, you have probably noticed that I never go on a trip without taking a longer lens with me. I find, especially in the mountains, there are so many opportunities to use it, it would be a shame to not to take it on an adventure. The intimate landscapes, the macros.. So much to look forward to.

One Cold February Day

One Cold February Day

Yes, winter can be very cold around these parts and one, usually, wishes to stay home and spend the weekend under a blanket with a hot cup of coco and a good movie or a book instead of wandering around in wilderness. However, such excursions can be very rewarding, providing they are short ;D.

A Sunset to Remember - End of Summer Visit to Jasper NP

We were so lucky this year to catch the last day of Jasper Tram late run, during our early September visit to the mountains. A beautiful sunny day that ended with us being able to behold a beautiful sunset from the top of the mountain was a great way to end summer vacation time.

April Sunset at Elk Island

April Sunset at Elk Island

The summer is in full swing now. We are all enjoying wonderful colors surrounding us wherever we go. I still remember, though, all the spring months, when I was impatiently awaiting this to happen. Being short of time, I really appreciated the rare moments when we could escape the city for a couple of hours and visit Elk Island National Park

Another Visit to Badlands

Another Visit to Badlands

Over the years we have travelled a few times to Alberta badlands. It is always an interesting trip. The landscape is so different there, comparing to the standard prairies / Rockies and there is always an abundance of photographic subjects. From out-of-this-world rock formations to interesting flora, patterns on the ground, carved by water flowing down after the rains, people, animals... If you are lucky, the sky cooperates
