The snow is mostly gone, here on the prairies, but it will be some weeks before we see greenery and flowers blooming. I can’t wait! It has been a long winter and I sure could use a bit of color. Late spring or early summer images are great for it because all is fresh and green is bright and not dimmed by dust of late summer days.
We are lucky here in Alberta, because some nights are full of light show. We had a couple of gorgeous Aurora showing last fall and I have managed to capture some shots without leaving the city.
I know, I know it is winter and everybody posts winter photography, but I am not ready for it yet. I see it outside my window every day, so I want to see something warm, colorful and pretty. Hope you are in need of this as well.
It has been a while since I’ve posted anything about Elk Island National Park. So, I think, it is time for some lovely sunset from the beginning of summer, when all was green, flowers were blooming and days were warm and long.
It is hard to only be able to see winter for months on end. It lasts so long, here in Alberta, that the need to turn to memories of warmer, more colorful months is often overwhelming. As much as the weather is nice right now, we still have a lot of snow on the ground and I find myself missing colors and warmth of summer months. I'm quite happy that I am able to easily indulge in seeing pictures I took during those months
As my wife wrote in the last part of the Harvest Time, the day that we planned the trip wasn't the best in terms of lighting. We started early trying to get the sunrise that morning, then the whole day turned photographic. The day did finish with a very beautiful sunset. I have to say the sunsets in Alberta are quite spectacular. They can range from almost non existent, when the sun quickly disappears, to really spectacular with colors truly out of this world. When we are together, my wife and me, on these trips we tend to shoot the same things, which is not necessarily bad, but it's not great either. We have different processing techniques, but essentially our subjects are very similar. It was the case on this trip as well. Maybe I will learn eventually to take different images :) Enjoy!

Harvest time is quite beautiful around here. I have shared some of my pictures in my post Harvest Time on the Prairies some time ago. Today I would like to share some of the images from our most recent trip. We have planned this trip into the country for a week and were a bit disappointed when the day turned rather cloudy in the afternoon and we weren't sure if we would be able to get any interesting shots. Regardless, we still have decided to go and explore the countryside. We got lucky, yet again ;D, and were rewarded with a wonderful sunset. There was a lot of activities on the fields. Everybody was rushing to get as much done as they could before the rains. All this harvesting has caused a lot of dust to lift in the air and since there was no wind all countryside was covered with clouds of it hanging around the fields covered with interesting patterns...
The dust created a bit of a haze, that did interesting things to the light...
Watching a beautiful sunset on the prairies is always amazing (I mean, just look at that big sky!!!) and this time we were not disappointed either. So beautiful!!

It's been a glorious evening a couple of days ago and we have decided to take a drive out in the country to see what's happening out there.. Here is a few images from our drive.
We were lucky to encounter lovely views and we even got the see a bit of a rainbow ;D
The great evening has ended by a gorgeous sunset that highlighted the wonderful clouds that were just asking to be photographed . It was a perfect end to a great day!
