The World in Yellow - Macro Photography

It's been a long time since I have dedicated a post to just macros..  It's gotten cold yet again and, it looks like, winter is not ready to move on at present. Not that there was a chance of that but .. eternal hope and the like ;D Oh well, we'll have to wait for spring some more, but don't despair.  At least in pictures we can find some wonderful color, borrowed from other seasons. I'm in mood for yellow in nature today and I do hope you'll find it as enjoyable as I do.  I love macro photography.  Love the fact that one can concentrate on a detail and that one can have wonderful colors in the background without sacrificing the main subject. Grant it, it it's not so easy to make macro interesting, but I hope, I have ben close enough to it that you'll take a moment to look at these ;D Have a wonderful day everybody! Kasia

A Little Indoor Spring

Easter is always connected to spring in my mind.  It is the time when I look forward to things starting to grow. In our climate, we have to wait for that to happen for a while yet, so, in order to satisfy my need for colorful, growing things I have to bring them indoor and feast my eyes with them there.  Thus I was very happy to acquire a bunch of daffodils. They are so beautifully vibrant, and colorful! With their juicy yellow they bring cheer and joy to my life. Of course, there is no way I could stop myself from snapping a few shots and share them with you all ;D I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.. Kasia

A Heart of a Lily

Mac has been entertaining us recently with his amazing series of landscapes. Whether at sunrise or at sunset, Alberta is so beautiful seen through his lens! But since it is wintery outside and they are forecasting some more snow to come, I thought a change of "scenery" would be in order. I have been able to get my hands on some nice lilies recently and have been, as usual, quite happy to spend a nice afternoon taking pictures of those gorgeous flowers. And since they are yellow and sunny and take my mind away from the cold outside they are perfectly suited to cheer everybody up, or so I hope ;) Kasia

Nature in the wild - Part 3

One of the reasons to go to Elk Island National Park is definitely the sunsets.  Every single one is different.  To challenge myself I decided to shoot them with different lenses.  Not only wide angle at 17mm, which I have to say is one of my favorites, but also at 200mm and in between.  Here are some, shot at different lengths.  Enjoy! Fall with the Family

We were  quite lucky this year.  We actually had a very warm and beautiful fall.  Best of it was that we were able to go out a few times and enjoy it as a family.  Right now when the cold of winter is snapping at you when ever you go, it is so nice to sit down with a warm cup of tea, and remember the beauty of the world, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of the sun.  Enjoy. Celebrating Spring

Spring Time I decided to post this photo in celebration of spring.  It's an old one.  This was shot for a challenge called "Grass".  I could not think of anything to make grass interesting subject, and then this idea popped into my head.  Even though this was taken almost 2 years ago, I still remember it vividly, and not for the reasons you might think :).  We were in the public park where we figured the grass would be nicest.  The camera was placed on the ground with some rice bags for support.  I had my wife lay down, and I set the focus, composition and set the 10sec automatic timer.  When I pressed the shutter, I had to run into position with my beautiful yellow jokey shorts around my ankles.  Just so  you know we were fully clothed, twisted we might be, but we are not exhibitionists :).  Still people were giving us confused and dirty looks. Luckily no one called the police.  So here it is, the fruit of our labour.  A beautiful picture, perfect for celebrating spring.

From the road to Yellowknife

Here are some photos from the trip we took to Yellowknife NWT.  These were taken close to the city of Peace River.  I remembered this shed from a long ago, and always wanted to photograph it.  My chance came.  It was beautiful sunny day, with golden fields and blue skies.  Perfect moment.  The scenery around was just as beautiful.  So not only did I fulfilled my wish, but also added a little bonus to it.  Enjoy!
