Miniature Roses

During our trip to Muttart Conservatory in February, I could not help but take lots of pictures of miniature roses that were a part of the exhibition. Such beautiful flowers, with their vibrant red colours! Each and every one of them like a piece of art beautifully sculptured by Mother Nature! I hope you will find as much pleasure looking at them as I did! Kasia

Fall with the Family

We were  quite lucky this year.  We actually had a very warm and beautiful fall.  Best of it was that we were able to go out a few times and enjoy it as a family.  Right now when the cold of winter is snapping at you when ever you go, it is so nice to sit down with a warm cup of tea, and remember the beauty of the world, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of the sun.  Enjoy. Alberta Girl

Nothing says "Alberta Girl" more then doing a photo shoot in of Candace in a bikini in +3C temperatures, and windy.  She really wanted to do this shoot, and the previous day the weather was quite nice for late March.  Unfortunately the day we planned this shoot, the weather turned for the worse.  Candace braved the chills though, like any good Canadian would. Candace

I mean really, when temperatures hit anywhere above 0C, you start seeing t-shirts and shorts on the streets.

Candace

During our shoot, we found some old junk in a pile ready for pickup, so I tried using some of it to create something different.

We were shooting at University of Alberta Farms.  It's a large piece of land almost in the middle of Edmonton, that is almost like a little rural Alberta community.  Anything from barns, livestock, fields ready for planting, and farm machinery.  It's a great little place, and perfect contrast for bikini shoot.

We didn't shoot for very long, as I felt  sorry for Candace, as she was getting really cold.  So we wrapped up the shoot by a small tree, and a little more clothes.

Hipstamatic

I found this great little app for the iPhone, called Hipstamatic.  It's a combination of old film, lenses, and flashes from old manual cameras.  It can create some very interesting effects with your photos.  I've been playing around with it for a bit, and I really like it.  You can pair up different lenses and different films, or you can just shake the iPhone and the application will randomize everything, giving you a very different and unique effect.  Like this. Flying Sunrise

One thing I love about small airplanes, is that they usually fly much lower, than commercial airlines.  Also they usually have much bigger windows to take pictures through.  Morning flights are usually most spectacular.  You can watch an amazing sunrise, and the way the shadows move along the earth.  If you ever have a chance to fly in a small airplane, either early in the morning, or before the sunset, I highly recommend it.  It's good to take a moment and just look and admire the beauty of this place that we call home.  I tried capturing the this beauty.  Enjoy. Las Vegas

We had an opportunity to visit Las Vegas for 4 days with my company. It was a wonderful trip albeit very tiring. One thing I have to say, it's not a city to take small kids to. There is lots of walking involved if you want to visit all the sites, or you have tons of money then you can cab it. I did some photos of the strip, but they your typical snaps, which are not really worth mentioning, since everyone seen Las Vegas strip many many time. The photos I want to present were taken on a car trip to Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam. We rented a car for a day picked a few interesting tourist spots and went on our way. This was the time when I was kicking myself for not taking my proper camera. The photos were taken with my Leica D-Lux 3. It's a nice small point and shoot style camera that actually captures RAW images. But I'm not going to do a review of it, since you can find it all over the internet. Back to the trip. First we visited Valley of Fire.

Valley of Fire

It is a park situated about 40 minutes out of Las Vegas. I would assume they called it Valley of Fire is because this whole desert valley, surrounded by very old mountains, has these red/orange rock formations thrown all over it. All these rock formations have been carved by water.

Faces in the rock

It's definitely a place I could have spent more time on. But time was short, so we had to press on. On to the Hoover Dam. The scenery on the way was absolutely breath taking. The total emptiness of the desert and the mountains is just humbling.

Hoover Dam was another amazing site. The sheer size of the structure, just wow.

The rest of the photos can be found here. We got back monday morning at about 3:30. I would love to visit these places again with more time and a proper camera. Maybe someday.
